Ramdev's fast update P-2

Two day fast report
August 13(2012)
  • Earlier on Aug 12(Sun) Ramdev has said that he will declare his "big announcement” on the next course of his agitation on Monday.
  • On Monday(Aug 13) Ramdev decided to continue his fast(Aug 13 was 5th day of his fast)
  • Ramdev had earlier given invitation to all parties and members of Parliament to join his fast.
So on Monday politicians from parties like
BJP president Nitin Gadkari and Sharad Yadav, who heads the JD(U) arrived in his camp.
"You are not alone, guruji," said Mr Gadkari. "All members of the NDA are with you,"  Gadkari said.Gadkari also defended Ramdev's aide
    Balkrishna who is in jail.
  • The BJP president further assured full support to the movement of Baba Ramdev against black money
  • On the same day Ramdev started a march towards Parliament and asked his supporters to follow him. However Delhi police denied permission of such march. Despite denial Ramdev started his march saying march won't break any law and order.Ramev also threatened to court arrest.
  • Ramdev sat on the to of a bus with march following him.
  • The march was not allowed to cross the Ranjit Singh flyover, where Ramdev and his supporters were detained to be taken to the Rajiv Gandhi stadium where a temporary jail was set up. However  due to rain and the thousands of people who surrounded Ramdev's bus forced the police to alter its plans and switch to the more centrally-located Ambedkar Stadium.
August 14
  • In the early morning Delhi police requested Ramdev to vacate the Ambedkar stadium before August 15 because of security concerns. However Ramdev on that particular time rejected this appeal   Ramdev began the day with Yoga on Tuesday and appealed to the public to come out in large numbers.
  • Latar around 8 am he said that he will end his fast at 11 am on Tuesday, but will continue his agitation at the Ambedkar stadium.however 40 minutes later he told Delhi police that  he will vacate the Ambedkar stadium after ending his fast at 11 am on Tuesday.
  • Sources say if Ramdev doesn't vacate the venue, the police will evict him for independence day security purpose (as said by police).
  • Ramdev may  head to Haridwar after that. Ramdev supporters say he'll make his future plan clear at 11 am when he ends his fast.
Editor's View: Janlokpal bill Center supports every fight against corruption and so will support Ramdev's. But Ramdev inviting political personalities like Gadkari(BJP) and Sharad yadav(JDU) in his agitation is not a good idea and strikes negatively. Such campaigns should not ionize with charge of any political party.
Because no political party is there which is not corrupt and will not want to excrete out their benefits from such campaigns! It also marks the suspicion that campaign is also exchanging political benefits with the parties. So Baba should shoo away the political association otherwise there will always be a mark of suspicion.
Anna during his agitations also never allowed politicians to enter the fast venue and that was the actual and honest way such fasts should go on.

Basic
Ramdev is set to fast for 3 days against black money and for lokpal bill tomorrow ( Aug,9/2012) at the Ramlila maidan and has said that he has no political ambitions.According to sources Anna is upset with Ramdev's praise of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and he may not join Ramdev's agiation. Some of the main demands of his fast are

  • Bringing back black money.
  • Bringing strong Lokpal
  • More transparent procedure for appointing Election Commissioners, CAG, CVC and CBI Director

Ramdev earlier spent three days   in the ancestral home of  Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Karmsad in Anand district of Gujrat.

We have no political ambitions, we have no political mission or political agenda. Our only mission is to save the country by bringing back blackmoney," ramdev said
When asked if Anna is going to be there he said
"Annaji has more than once publicly promised that he is joining me on August 9, so now its up to him to decide."
Blackmoney is a product of unjust economic management and that's the root cause of all problems we are facing currently. So tomorrow show your anger against blackmoney by organizing a rally in big way," ,Ramdev said

"We have appealed to every social, religious, political and spiritual organisation to join our movement. So anyone can come and join us tomorrow," he said

Govt told media to ignore fast at Jantar-Mantar: Kiran Bedi

Have you ever wondered why media is not giving coverage to T.Anna's fast?
Why complete knowledge about lokpal and fast is not shared with public by mass media?

Answering these questions Kiran Bedi  today alleged that the media was instructed by the UPA government to "underplay" the ongoing agitation of the movement for a strong Lokpal and action against central ministers accused of corruption.

  • "There is a letter in writing from the government instructing media to underplay our agitation at Jantar Mantar as it is seen as a threat to its survival," she told reporters here.
  • The government was opposing the Janalokpal Bill because if its enacted its cabinet ministers would be under investigation threatening their survival, she said
  • On the controversial meeting of Hazare with Union law minister Salman Khurshid near Pune last month, she said, "It was Khurshid who came to meet Anna for discussion.

  • She also said  that movement is "apolitical", adding that the team members were not hankering after any position of power.
  • Bedi said the crowd was enough at Jantar Mantar, adding that "Jantar Mantar is not Ramlila Maidan".

Ramdev, Anna hold day-long fast in Delhi

First report

Anna Hazare and yoga guru Ramdev on Sunday (june 3/ 2012)
sat on a day-long fast at  Jantar Mantar  protesting against corruption. They Together visited  Mahatma Gandhi's memorial and Shahid Park. The one-day fast demanding bringing back black money stashed abroad and against the corruption and corrupt system is also likely to have its echo in the state capitals as well with Ramdev's BharatSwabhiman Andolan organising protests. This is the first time that Ramdev and Hazare are sitting on a joint fast. From Team Anna, Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi and Manish Sisodia were the prominent members who joined Hazare and Ramdev in the day-long fast.
Quote:-Their words
  • Ramdev began his campaign issuing a warning to the government to get ready for "fight to the finish" by August and asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to make his Cabinet "corruption free."
  • "You (the Prime Minister) are an honest person personally. People respect you for that. But you hold the high constitutional post. You have to take care of the political, constitutional and democratic responsibility.
  • "Your personal honesty is not enough. You have to be politically honest too. You have to keep your Cabinet honest. Then people will respect you (more)," Ramdev told his supporters, who were waiving the tricolour.
  • Ramdev also invoked the name of Rajiv Gandhi saying when the former prime minister talked about only 15 paise out of a rupee reaching the beneficiaries, it was "ideal" but "when we talk about it, then we are called "khalnayaks (villains)".
  • "If the government names the actual investors of FDI, the puzzle with regard to black money will be solved," he said in an apparent reference Foreign Institution Investors (FII), which can allegedly be used by people to stash away black money.Seeking answers to the fall of the rupee and dipping GDP from finance minister Pranab Mukherjee, Ramdev said the Indian economy will be strengthened if the black money was brought back and the youth were given ample employment opportunities.

  • Recalling the police crackdown on his supporters last year Ramdev said  it was "Ravan lila" played out at the Ramlila grounds. "Even Mahatma Gandhi had said that India needs its own laws. But we still have British era laws like the one on land acquisition and the Police Act. We need to remove the archaic laws and have swadeshi laws," he said.
  • "Whenever we talk of corruption, those in the power and leaders of the ruling party maintain that laws are not made on the streets...We are not against anyone...There is no family feud," he said.

  • Meanwhile Minister of state for parliamentary affairs Harish Rawat told reporters  "They(team Anna and baba Ramdev) have full freedom to voice concern against corruption. But Anna Hazare and Ramdev should understand that in the name of fighting corruption, if they want to destroy the existing institutions, then the country will not accept it...,"
HappeningsThe protest also had its share of drama when a man in his late twenties and claiming to be a 'volunteer' of Team Anna campaign, tried to attempt self-immolation alleging that he was mistreated by prominent members of India Against Corruption.

Support
This joint fast of Anna and Ramdev is getting intense support all over the nation!

Oppose
However, a section of Team Anna have opposed association with Ramdev on the ground that the yoga guru was facing corruption charges.

Is lokpal against procedure? (Light Showing facts)

During Anna's Anshan MPs blamed that Anna is blackmailing parliament. Now after Anshan Media is debating on it. So of course citizens are confuse that weather they gave wrong support to Anna or were they right to support a bill which is intended to be Constitution changer ?
Now lets clarify some facts and make situation a little bit clear.

  • ANSHAN CONTROVERSY- The Lokpal bill was first introduced by Shanti Bhushan in 1968 and passed the 4th Lok Sabha in 1969. But before it could be passed by Rajya SabhaLok Sabha was dissolved and the bill lapsedThe Subsequent versions were re-introduced in 1971, 1977, 1985, 1989, 1996, 1998, 2001, 2005 and in 2008,but none of them passed.CONCLUSION: bill was tarnishing in the drawers of parliament for mare than 4 decades and MP's are saying that WE DON't GAVE THEM TIME TO MAKE A PERFECT LOKPAL BILL}
  • Constitution Changer-  Corruption in our day to day life is putting our tax into pockets of government and our BRIBE in that of BABUS or officers, all weather lokpal supporter or in opposition to it claim this reality! but some of them do not claim that corruption is not only a threat to out TAX but also to OUR SUPREME LAW i.e CONSTITUTION, and this corruption is corroding CONSTITUTION form its very beginning.CONCLUSION:So if corruption and bribe can spit on constitution's spirit then why a Constitution Changer anti corruption bill cannot be implemented to SAVE CONSTITION FORM MUCH NASTY SPUTUM OF CORRUPTION .However alternative can also be don if we stop giving bribe to save our Constitution and fundamental rights from corruption's rusting effect

  • Media's ROLE- Politicians are blaming that it was only media's coverage that popularized this ANDOLAN. Well they are wrong and their tone is of a dictator who controls media. They are wrong because it was not news that powered andolan but it was people's interest flood in society and on social networking sites that forced media to give the required coverage.CONCLUSION: Media of a democracy is free to show what it wants, moreover it shows those things about which people are crazy means media may not have given coverage to the andolan if citizens might not have reacted in that supportive or debative manner.

SUGGESTIONS : Open DEBATE ( in support and against bill)

Government and BJP agree to voice vote on Lokpal Bill (Team Anna happy)

In a development that could help end the impasse on the Lokpal issue, government and opposition today reached an agreement under which Parliament will adopt a resolution incorporating the three demands of Team Anna with a voice vote. This  turnaround came when BJP heard Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal announce at the Ramlila grounds that the government had conveyed to them the Opposition's reluctance to vote on a resolution in Parliament on the Lokpal issue

When the BJP insisted that in the changed circumstances, a resolution should be moved and put to a voice vote, the government agreed to it. Some young ministers and MPs from the Congress also insisted on a resolution and vote as they felt Team Anna will not settle for anything less.
Sources said the resolution mentions all the three demands of Anna Hazare, namely Citizens' Charter, Lokayukta in states and including lower bureaucracy under Lokpal's ambit. The resolution states that the House agrees "in principle" on these issues. It will be put to a voice vote in both Houses (Loksabha and Rajaya sabha)

"We are very happy with the development," a Team Anna spokesperson said on this turnaround of government

Asked whether Hazare would end his fast today, the spokesperson said "Hazare will decide whether to break his fast today or tomorrow morning. Normally, he prefers to break the fast in the mornings," Hazare had demanded that the Parliament should accept the three key demands of the civil society for him to end the fast.

Lok Sabha to discuss Jan Lokpal tomorrow (26/8/11 )

Government have decided to have a discussion in the Lok Sabha on friday on the Jan Lokpal Bill.
As per sources

  1. discussion will take place on the Bill in the shape of a “document” and its salient features after which the records of the debate are expected to be sent to the Parliamentary Standing Committee examining the Lokpal Bill.
  2. It was, however, not clear immediately whether the debate would be held under Rule 193 or Rule 184, which entails voting.
  3. The wording of such a motion could ask for a discussion on the Jan Lokpal and other Bills like the one prepared by Ms. Roy along with the government version of the Bill, and the paper presented by Jaiprakash Narayan so that these be sent to the Standing Committee for its consideration for making a strong Lokpal Bill, sources said.
  4. During the discussion, members will be free to speak on Aruna Roy’s version of Lokpal Bill along with the Jan Lokpal and government's Lokpal draft etc. In view of the discussion, Parliament will have a sitting on Saturday, the sources said.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal also held a meeting with Mr. Mukherjee on the issue of discussions.
The meeting took place soon after Mr. Hazare reacted to Parliament’s appeal to end his fast and demanded that it discuss from Friday three key issues on Jan Lokpal and create an agreement first.

House should prioritise Lokpal Bill: BJP

Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Saturday said Parliament should set aside all business and pass a strong Lokpal Bill at the earliest so that questions raised over the credibility of Legislature are answered. He wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, saying it would be "arrogance and stupidity" on part of the Legislature to ignore the tremendous public anger against corruption

"The rights and power of Parliament should not represent stubbornness. He said that before the spark of public anger reaches the seat of democracy, "it is my request that we should set aside all legislative work and take up Lokpal Bill.

Team Anna may not insist on bringing judiciary under Lokpal

1. Team Anna Hazare on Thursday indicated that it may not insist on the judiciary being brought under the ambit of the Lokpal if the govt brings out a “good” Judicial Accountability Bill.
“PM has to be within the ambit of the Lokpal. As far as the judiciary is concerned, if a good Judicial Accountability bill can be brought along with the Jan Lokpal Bill then we are open to it,” Arvind Kejriwal told reporters outside Tihar jail.

2. He further said it is not necessary that the fast will continue for 15 days. It depends on how the government responds to the demands put before it

3. When asked why Mr. Hazare was still at Tihar jail, Mr. Kejriwal said Anna could not go to Ramlila Maidan as it was not ready.
