Arvind Kejriwal's group protests against Delhi gang-rape outside Sonia Gandhi's residence

Around 60-70 activists of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) yesterday(21,Dec,2012) held a protest before the residence of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi in Delhi demanding immediate hanging of the alleged rapists of a young girl in the capital.

The protesters marched to 10 Janpath - Mrs Gandhi's residence - from Jantar Mantar after a demonstration there and sat holding candles and shouting slogans against the government and demanding immediate action in the rape case.
Three protesters were allowed inside Mrs Gandhi's residence for a meeting with a Congress general secretary.

Outside, the protesters demanded that the rapists of the 23-year-old girl be immediately hanged, claiming that their guilt has been proved already.

"Why is the government taking a long time?" asked one of the protesters.

One carried a poster which read, "either you take quick action or there will be violent reaction."

Several groups also held candle light vigil at the India Gate here to express solidarity with the victim.

Govt rejects panel's suggestions of lokpal

HAPPENED ON DEC 18.
Department of personnel and training (DoPT) under the prime minister turned down the select committee's recommendation that an official facing an inquiry from the Lokpal not be given an opportunity to be heard at the stage of preliminary enquiry (i.e  before a case is lodged) .For this purpose  government changed Clause 20(3) of the version of Lokpal bill (suggested by Rajya Rabha selected parliamentary panel )

The DoPT also rejected the suggestion that officers on a particular probe not be transferred without Lokpal's consent when the investigation was on. The government rejected this proposal, and brought in an amendment saying transferring any official would remain the exclusive right of the government. The government insisted that the Lokpal must seek the comments of the public servant against whom it may be conducting an enquiry .
For this purpose  government also changed Clause 20(2) of the bill

|this resistance offered by govt wil further delay the passage of lokpal which is stuck in Rajya Sabha for almost a year( and whose implementation has been demanded by citizens about 2 years ago)|

The government has mostly agreed to other recommendations of the select committee which has delinked the creation of Lokayuktas in states and exempting the PM from the ambit of Lokpal on matters of security, atomic energy and international relations.

Anna Hazare was admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU) of private hospital (medanta-the medicity) in Gurgaon on Friday(7, DEC 2012) morning after he complained of cough, acidity and weakness.

Kiran Bedi and Arvind Kejriwal spread the news of his ill health on a social networking website.

"Anna is admitted in Medanta and under intensive care of a team of doctors. What are the health issues only doctors can say as professionals!" Bedi said around noon on Friday.

"Anna in hospital. I wish I cud go to see him. I wish him fast recovery," Kejrival said around the same time.

Anna Hazare  is recovering and will be discharged in a day or two, a doctor said on Saturday.

"Anna is not under stress at present. A team of doctors led by Naresh Trehan is keeping close watch on medical reports of Anna. He is better than Friday. Hopefully he will allowed to go home in a day or two," said K.L. Sehgal, a senior doctor of Medicity Medanta,

"He is recovering and his vitals are stable. He was given food on the directions of a nutritionist. He needs more rest,"Sehgal continued

In a message to his supporters from the in the intensive care unit, Hazare said: "I'm recovering and will soon meet the activists from January. I will go for awareness campaign across the country as scheduled."

Editor's View: Its great that Anna Ji is recovering but its a shame that there was no news broadcasted  on TV channels about Anna's admitting in ICU and his health conditions. TV media didn't even mentioned his conditions, its a pity!

Kejriwal accuses Modi of giving undue favours to companies

Arvind Kejriwal Today (December ,4,2012) accused Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi of giving undue favours to some companies and said the impression of him being honest was wrong.
Allegations
  • He alleged Modi had showered special favours to the Adani Group and agreed to purchase power from the company at a rate double of what was offered by Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation.
  • He alleged Modi had granted land to the Adanis in Kutch area at throwaway prices.
  • He also attacked the Congress for not raising the alleged wrongdoings of Modi, saying that the two were acting as "business partners" and "partners in loot".
"Modi has an image that he is honest. But papers show there is something wrong. It appears that Modi and the Congress are business partners," Kejriwal said.
  • He alleged that Modi had gifted away 20 percent of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation's (GSPC) stake in the Krishna-Godavari Basinto two companies, Geo Global and Jubilant Enpro Private limited.
  • He accused that according to records, these companies were not identified through any competitive bidding. These two companies were simply given away the participating interests in these gas fields free of cost,
  • Kejriwal added: "Geo Global was incorporated just six days before their agreement with GSPC. On the day of the agreement, its total capital was $64 (Rs.3,200) only. The company is owned by some Jean Paul Roy. So, from a Rs.3,200 worth company, it became a Rs.10,000 crore worth company within six days.
  • GSPC has spent $3 billion as cost of exploration. Since Geo Global has a 10 per cent stake, 10 per cent of this cost of $300 million (Rs.1,500 crore) should have been borne by Geo Global. However, the Modi government paid this money on their behalf and did not recover it from them.
" Why did Modi do that? Who is Jean Paul Roy? What is Modi's relationship with Jean Paul Roy?" asked Kejriwal.
  • Kejriwal also said the Gujarat government had been allotting concessional plots of land to MPs and MLAs  in prime areas of Gandhinagar for constructing houses, but most of them have sold these plots at much higher rates.
"Why did the Congress, which is the opposition party (in Gujarat), not raise its voice against this scheme? Because MPs and MLAs from Congress also have got plots and they have also benefited from this scheme," said Kejriwal.
  • The Gujarat HC stayed the sale of these plots. Kejrival accused that in order to keep the judges happy  Modi gave concessional plots to all the sitting, retired and promoted judges of Gujarat HC in April 2010.
Defense/Response
Jubilant Energy denied Kejriwal's accusations  issuing a statement which stated that"Jubilant Energy, a subsidiary of Jubilant Enpro, won the block in international competitive bidding in the third round of New Exploration Licensing Policy of the government of India. Jubilant Energy is a partner in the block and pays fully for its 10 percent share of expenditure,"

"The block was awarded to Jubilant Energy by the ministry of petroleum and natural gas with 22 other blocks at the same time to various parties," the statement said.

Anna may campaign for Aam Aadmi Party

"I will examine the backgrounds of the candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party recently floated by Kejriwal. If I find good qualities within them, I will campaign for them,” said Anna Hazare while addressing his supporters and members of the India against Corruption (IAC) at BHUBANESWAR  on Thursday(29 ,Nov).
“Kejriwal and I were working unitedly and would work for the country in the coming days. We have one goal, though our ways are different,” said Hazare while telling about his present relation with the Jan Lokpal Bill core committee member.

He also said "I will campaign only for Kejriwal's candidates," Hazare told reporters here. "There may be good people in other parties but who has the control?"
Criticizing other political parties for indulging in politics in the name of caste and communities, the 75-year-old activist also accused them of practicing unfair means to collect donations

"I know Kejriwal. He has not done anything for himself. He is doing everything for the country," Hazare said, reiterating that he will however examine the candidates and back them only the deserving ones.

AAM ADMI PARTY ACTIVISTS roughed up by the Delhi police on trying to file an attempt to rape case

Supporters of Aam Aadmi Party were allegedly roughed up by police Saturday while they were protesting police's refusal to register a complaint on a minor's rape in the capital.

According to activists A four-year-old girl was raped Nov 25 in the J.J. colony of Bawana in Delhi. But police allegedly refused to register a first information report (FIR) in the case.

The girl's family members said that she was raped by a 50-year-old neighbour, who was caught red-handed committing the crime, but managed to escape.
On police's refusing to file FIR girl's family staged a protest outside the Narela police station.
However, they alleged that police beat them up while they were protesting.

AAP activists said that they too were roughed up by police when they started protesting against the refusal of police to lodge an FIR in the case.

Two police constables and an investigation officer were suspended, and an FIR was lodged in the rape case after Aam Aadmi Party's national executive member Gopal Rai met some police officials Saturday, the activist said.
