The Aam Aadmi Party on 22 April 2013 has announced to form a Mahila Suraksha Dal in all Assembly constituencies and colleges to take up those cases of sexual harassment against women that policemen do not investigate properly.
Arvind explained that activists of the proposed Mahila Suraksha Dal would visit police stations and put pressure on cops who were shoddily investigating rape cases.
Arvind also said those interested in joining the Dal should SMS their contact details to 9212472681 or email volunteer@aamaadmiparty.org.
Arvind also said that it was AAP's intervention that a five year old girl's rape case(in Delhi) was given proper consideration. He said that "Girl's uncle called at the AAP's helpline and informed that the rape case is being suppressed by the police and that they(girl's relatives) were offered a bribe to remain silent.
That's why AAP went to Gandhi Nagar police station and ensured that the matter wasn't hushed up. Later when she was sent to a hospital that didn't have the required facilities to treat her injuries, AAP intervened"
Arvind said that the AAP's helpline was getting swamped with callers complaining about sexual abuse cases which the police were allegedly not probing.
Since AAP do not have enough manpower to take up all the complaints. They decided to create Mahila Suraksha Dal and requested citizens to volunteer it even if they do not support AAP.
